Thornhill helps to keep Bombardier Trains on track with Cummins
Cummins designs, manufactures, sells and services diesel and alternative fuel engines. One of the sectors it works in is advanced rail technology, providing equipment for a wide range of rail transport from Europe’s high-speed passenger trains to 20-ton grinders in the Far East.
In the UK, Cummins’ customers include Bombardier Transportation UK Limited providing power packs for a number of its fleets, including QSK19 R engines on their Class 220, 221 and 222 trains. Clearly keeping the trains working is vital and ensuring that equipment is working at optimum levels is key.
Cummins operations and rail aftermarket manager Martin McGowan selected Thornhill to overhaul the cooler groups on the powerpacks and has been pleased with the service provided.
He says: “The work that Thornhill carries out for us requires excellent communication across all levels to ensure that everyone involved is kept informed about collections, deliveries and progress while projects are underway. Their team ensures this happens. We continue to be delighted by the excellent quality of the refurbishments they carry out for us, which helps us to maintain our reputation with Bombardier Transportation.”
