Nestlé has multiple sites across the UK which manufacture a wide variety of food and drink including its world-famous range of world-famous chocolate and confectionery brands. Products made in its Newcastle factory include Toffee Crisp, Rolo, Fruit Pastilles and Matchmakers and while each require different techniques and processes, a consistent requirement across all of them is effective management of heating and cooling processes.
Nestlé relies on Thornhill to undertake vital inspections of its heater coils and vessels to assess their condition in order to determine the best time to undertake repairs or, if this isn’t appropriate, replacement. Depending on the factory equipment involved, some of this work takes place on-site at Nestlé and some at Thornhill’s facilities.
Industrial services manager Gary McMorland says: “Thornhill provides an excellent service and their work is always on time and on budget. A recent project they undertook for us was a particularly large job involving one of our main production cookers. This machine is essential to our operation so we needed a really fast turnaround for it to be taken from our site to Thornhill’s, repaired, pressure tested and returned so that we could re-install it. They worked round the clock to meet our requirements and everything was completed entirely to our satisfaction.”
