As a result of a risk-based inspection Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) identified that eight of its gas flow line heaters required retubing. They asked several of their approved heat exchanger and pressure vessel manufacturers to propose their solutions. After careful consideration of the companies’ proposals, SSE chose Thornhill to carry out the work in a four-year framework agreement.
Compliance coordinator at SSE’s Gas Storage facility Kevin Rial Kevin says: “It was clear that Thornhill was best placed to deliver all aspects of the high integrity work that needed to be carried out in their industry leading workshop. We were impressed by the skills of their engineering team backed by all the necessary procedures and quality systems they have in place to complete the work to the high standard required.”
The work was carried out under close surveillance by the SSE Engineering team.
